Help please,We have a David Brown 990 which we lent to someone who ran it without oil causing it to seize. We have rebuilt it and had the injectors checked. It turns over, we have bled it and done all the normal things to get it to start to no avail. We have tried using ether. The pump has been off and checked. Has anyone got any ideas. Thanks

Do you have fuel to the injectors? White smoke out the exhaust?

Have you had the timing cover off and verified all the marks?

Is the external timing mark for the pump lined up with the one on the timing backing plate?

Valves adjusted properly? .010-.012"

How fast is it cranking?

Given you are in the southern hemisphere, I am guessing it is cold right now, Tow starting make help. Put her in H2 and pull with another tractor at 5-6 MPH while modulating the clutch pedal.

Hi, thank you very much for your reply which I will pass on to my husband who will be in touch.
Thanks
Gaye

My guess is that your pump is not synchronised with the flywheel. No 1 on the pump should spurt just BTDC on the flywheel.. Turn the motor over by hand.
If you had the pipes sitting during summer, there is a little wasp that likes building mud castles inside. check they are all free.
Had this problem with the FMD.white smoke, no go,
flywheel and pump out of sinc.
But make sure you have purged the fuel lines, tank to no 1 filter then to the next filter if 2 then on to the pump. done in stages.A little spurt of aerostart may help after all is complete.... best.
