Cost of liming land ?

Here in sw WI we can get spread from sand and gravel companies cheaper than from fertilizer places. It would depend on your local supply of rock. Around here limestone is prevalent so lime is readily available.

Had some lime applied last yr. The ag lime material cost was 7.00 per ton. The trucking charge to deliver the lime to the farm was 7.00 per ton. Then there was a spreading charge which was probably around 5.00 acre. This was rented land so the renter absorbed the spread charge. So our cost was 14.00 per ton to get it to the farm.

Tom that is what sounded funny to me on the guy from Ky posting 12 dollars.. I do quite a bit and we charge our neighbors and friends 25 dollars an acre for TWO ton spread and feel like we are doing them a favor. trucking and fuel has gone out the roof. I had 2000 ton contractrd at the quarry last year and my cost there was $ 7.25 per ton. Guess it just depends on where you are. I am only 32 miles from the quarry and I sure don,t want to spread any of anything less than $ 12.00 a ton based on 2 ton to the acre and that is not enough.
