Just had the co-op spray my corn 5 days ago and the corn stalk looks stunted and the leaves are all purple.I called and they said they did not use round-up.They said they used atrazine, oil and some other new herb.It is not round-up corn.Do you think it is dieing? The roots look white. The corn is in the 3rd and 4th leaf stage. It is very dry here and hot.Thoughts???? Thanks

Atrazine and oil can be pretty tough on corn. If you are having to kill weeds in corn you are already behind and frying with atrazine and oil is only going to compound your problem. The purple is likey either a reaction to the other chemical in the mix or a temporary deficiency of phosphate which causes the purple color. Frying with atrazine and oil probably cost you several bushels of corn already. You never want to stress corn like that. Mike

SOme guys here in IN are having the same purplish corn. seems to be mostly pioneer varieties that turn purple when stressed.

Phosphorus deficient. Probably had little to do with chemical. We're seeing it on last year's sugarbeet ground. Hot and dry here in WC MN

All of mine looked that way a few years ago. Looked textbook phosphorus deficient. Had me awake nights. It finally grew out of it.

The Co-op was here this molrning and the new guy running there sprayer did spray it with round-up.Not round-up corn.Spent all day replanting 60 arces with 90 day corn.Any one else have this happen??thanks
