I have a john deere 3010 LP. it has a radiator leak along the top seam. I need a new radiator, but can't seem to find one. Amybody have any recomendations on where to find one.

thanks

Have no idea as to where you are located. To me Iwould look for a good radiator shop and have them repair it. Cost for repair won't be cheap.
But a used one will also not be cheap. With a
used one you may shortly have the same problem.
A new one try your JOHN DEERE Dealer. ggp

You could try a local radiator shop also. But A&I, Steiner, nnalert, THE company, Shoup, Sloans Express are a few others you can look at. Biggest thing is to check on the "country of origin." I put a new one in my 4010 gas couple years ago and it was a Northern made in Irelend, (I bought alot of them back then) now Northern are made in India and are still the same price or more but not the same fit.

If it is leaking in the seam it should be repairable but just cleaning the outside and adding solder will not make a satisfactory repair. The top will have to be removed so that the entire seam can be cleaned and resoldered.

Take it to a radiator shop. That is what they do all day. Most likely your old one repaired will far outlast a Chinese replacement.

Listen to showcrop. Look up Radiator Repair in your yellow pages or on Google if you don't know of one. Drop it off and tell them to re-core it. Come back a week later and you should have a radiator that is as good (maybe better) than new and a $600 bill. Might sound bad, but take a look at what one will cost you on jdparts.deere.com (probably more than twice that)!

Maybe you don't need a new core and your old radiator can just be soldered/brazed, but it's one of those things that if you're going to pull the dang thing out and put it back in, you won't want to do it again any time soon.

Thanks for the replies. I am in sw ok. I don"t know of any good radiator shops around but will start looking. How hard is it to pull the radiator off. I grew up on a farm and did alot small repairs w/ my father as a kid, but its been 20 or so years since doing anything like this. Also I have a food plot that needs to be disced. would it be ok to go a head and do it before fixing the radiator. Its only about 2 acres.

I'd fill up the rad and disc your 2 acres, as long as it doesnt leak too bad. You can always stop and put more in too.

there is usually a good radiator shop within 50 miles of everybody. Ask around. Usually the ones that do work on the construction/industrial equipment are better. Also, dont judge the shop on looks. Usually the dirtiest and ugliest shops are the best!
