Cylinder head identify

Please how can I identify the engine type if the head is a # D3JL 8090 C . See photo attached.

Yes, it's a Ford casting number that appears to have been first designed in 73. But that valve cover looks older to me.

I agree on it being a Ford part number, from '73 (or later). If the valve cover fits (looks like it should - I don't see any bolt holes along the edge to hold it on), I'd say it's for a late industrial variant of the Red Tiger engine series. A '73 or later 4000 would have a valve cover held on by bolts around its perimeter, while the Red Tigers used two studs through the top of the valve cover. Heads of the head bolts also look too small for a 3-cylinder engine.
 
The head would fit either a 172 ci or 192 ci engine. I'm pretty sure your block casting number indicates a 172 ci.
