IH 435 baler

We got our straw baled, but the baler was missing about 2-3 bales per wagonload. I put new knives on thinking that maybe dull knives were pulling out the knots, but it didn't really help any. Any ideas?

When my 430 starts missing too much, ths problem is always dirt under the billhook cams prevevting them from holding the twine tight. pull the bolt, flip up and pin up the knotter. take thes pring loaded cam off and clean it and behind it. take note of the spring tension and put them back to the same tension when you put them back on.

Thats exactly what my 430 was doing new knives and cleaned the bill hooks and cam didn't miss a bale after that.

Knives on the IH should be sharp enough that when you put the twine on them you can just pull lightly to cut the twine. Without sliding it. Just straight tension on the twine against the knife. If you have a real good small very fine stone you can sharpen them but the are cheap to change. Also straw or dry grass must be bailed very tight to bale.

Ps I traded mine off for a new holland less trouble.

One time when our 430 started to skip the shear pin was loose enought for the needles to make them sloup a little we put a new one in and it stop We traded also for a NH a lot less problems
