OT war hardware restoration

That operation looks almost governmental in scope. Millions in plant and equipment. And then there is the annual operating budget.

If it were to be liquidated, could the auctioneer get 10% of the appraised value or cost? Where is the market other than scrap? Can it generate any income other than movie rentals.

It is impressive and a true labor of love. Some museums can make money, but this one seems unlikely. It is nice though that someone of means has made the effort to save this aspect of history.

Wardner: Your comments about the future of this type operation is very valid. I have similar thoughts about most of the Aircraft in private collections that have historic value such as WW-1 and 2 aircraft. I was very very lucky to get a ride in a P-51D on which I had requested a military strafing/bombing flight. It was carried out in mannor above what I had hoped for such that I wondered how close we were to max stress. (maybe he flew hard because he knew I was an agpilot) That gave me a very good idea what combat was about... It is one thing to see a military aircraft flyby but a whole lot more to get a great simulated combat flight... It takes a lot of brave men to go into combat... War is not a 'fun game' which might be the message computer war games give to young people now.. ag
