Some success

Some success last night with deer in the garden. Wife and i sprinkled baby powder on the green beans and field peas. This morning the garden was tracked pretty heavy but nothing was eaten. Seems to have worked for rabbits also. I guess time will tell.

Don't know whats going on with the computer double posting. Used the cheapest i could find from the dollar store.

Thanks, seems like one of the less obnoxious remedies. I have used dried blood meal, sold as a ferililzer for roses. Use a discarded shaker jar from the kitchen - parmesan cheese, etc. Renew every few days, and after rain.

I"ve had pretty good luck with "Irish Spring" soap grated and placed in old socks.
Shake then up every few days to keep up the aroma.
Maybe the unwashed old socks would be as effective? LOL

I just finished 2 sweet corn patches, about 2500 seed worth, one place the deer are not so dense, always being chased during hunting season on adjacent lands, no nuisance problems, but here at home they will ruin a garden. Seeing nothing is up yet, just sowed, and I have to get a roll of fence, I immediately took action to ward em off. I had some dial soft or liquid soap in a gallon size container, from like '02. It seems that either the perfume in it gets stronger, separates or some darned thing, wash your hands with it in our softened water, you can't get that perfume odor to go away, so I mixed up a batch, poured a couple of heaping table spoons into a watering can, with a shower type head, sprinkled that around the garden, 3 laps around, not one track in the dirt, 'cept mine when planting. Fence will have to go in though.

I saw the dried blood mentioned, will add bone meal will give off the dead body odor too, but depending on whats in your area, it can draw critters that like that sort of thing, but may not be good for the garden plants.
