Mahindra Tractors

Any thought on the Mahindra tractor going to a sale they have several there think about buying one.

That is and India company and heard they are a solid tractor for the price. Mahindra built Willy Jeeps under contract during World War 2.

I don't own one, and I've never run one, but I have looked them over carefully, fully expecting to find some defects and/or flaws somewhere, and I honestly could find nothing that would make me shy away from buying one if I was ever in the market. I honestly feel they are as good as any, and easily BETTER than some. If you have a local dealer who can supply service and parts, go for it.

I have one it is very well built you get alot more for the money what I paid for this one fully equiped any of the other you would get a striped down one I bought mine 5 or so years ago the only mistake I made was not to get 4 wheel drive very good tractors

Parts and service are they real short fall. Know a man that had a radiator problem, waited over 2 weeks for a radiator then when he got it was the wrong one in all he was down about a month. Most of the dealers that tried them here have already moved on to something else.

Had a customer purchase 1. Kept having flat tires. The rear rims were so thin we could not remove the tire to fix it without bending the rims. We were not tire jockeys trying to do the job as fast as we could and move on. The rims on this 1 were so rusty inside the tire [no fluid], the dealer put new ones on the tractor. My only experence with them.

Mahindra built British pattern IHC under license that meant a lot of tooling from IHC to make exact parts interchange. 1990s India market reform- socialists replaced with Capitalist government- freed many Indian companies for world market sales. Mahindra made spare parts for some IHCs were sold as direct replacements by former IHC, now Case/IHC/NH/Fiat- whatever they call themselves now. Some of the former IHC dealers handling them as the 30 to 75 hp utility market part of line as competition to Kobuta, rep for work at good price, reliable in most models. The B275, 414, 454 clones have most parts interchange and parts available locally- some old accesseries interchange or mount easily- loaders are supposed to be easy swaps. Mahindra has a rep for good metal work, castings, quality control as old military supplier didn't want complaints from people with access to cannons.

I considered Mahindra, but ended up with a Kubota. Nearest dealer dropped them. Now another dealer has picked them up. Looked at Kioti also, but no dealers real close. I'd question whether there is much IH left in Mahindra. The new designs I looked at didn't look much like IH stuff. My Kubota dealer has been in biz for 30 years +.

Have a neighbor with one, about 40 hp and he is happy with it...has
had it for over 5 yrs.

I too looked them over carefully back in '07 when I was tractor
shopping and they looked like good solid value. Just didn't have the
cab and bells and whistles I wanted so I passed. The local NH
dealer handles them.

(quoted from post at 12:16:47 06/05/12) Any thought on the Mahindra tractor going to a sale they have several there think about buying one.

A buddy here in Pa tried a dealership and finally gave up. They won't stand behind them and if they do, they are extermely slow to act. He finally closed the shop.

The Mahindras they make now have little to nothing in common with the old British IH utilities.

A Chevrolet dealer about 50 miles from here has been a big Mahindra dealer for several years and appears to do well. They were also going to sell the Mahindra trucks, but the gov't still hasn't let them in
