JD 40 find

Every once in a while I have a need to hear a John Deere tractor running, so I buy one. This weekend I stopped at a yard sale and the owner asked me if I was interested in a tractor she had out back in the shed. It turned out to be a JD 40 with a wide front end and 3 pt hitch. When she said $700 I didn't have the heart to haggle any, so I just paid her. Hope I didn't get hooked too bad? I prefer the red ones.

The vertical 2cyl sound different than the horizontal ones. Does it run? If you want to make a profit I will offer $750 ha! You cant go wrong for $700, you where in the right spot at the right time.

You don't feel a little guilty for taking advantage of the lady? Even if it doesn't run it got to be worth more than that. I think the last one I saw sell brought about 3500 in its work clothes a few years ago at a Farm Auction.
