corn patch in nj

just getting ready to leave nj and go to pa,took a picture of my sweet corn patch in nj, its about 4ft by 4 ft , many people think I am a nut,they might be right! And a few shots of the raised beds this morning, Sorry,no tractor was used in nj,

Have you done the corn like that before??? I could see the benefit of shadowing out the weeds..

Careful you don't get radon poisoning fooling around with that dirt :shock:
 
It was common to plant corn in hills of 12 plants years ago.I did it in a small garden.It may come from the days when people planted crops between the stumps of land they were clearing.You had to water and fertilze a lot on hill planted corn.
 
Of those many people that may think your a nut, have any of them ever refused the excess veggies you've offered them for free?

Larry, Nice gardenSSS, Puts me in the mind of VICTORY GARDENS that we planted many years ago. Most folks did that to suplement their food bills. Thanks for the pictures. Regards LOU.
