Fanex tedder parts

Anybody else out there have a fanex tedder? Mine is one of the 730`s, and I am having a bear of a time finding parts for it, new or used. Anybody have any sources? I`m looking for tine arms for it, and ones off of a newer fanex/vicon 523 will fit, but the only ones I have found they want $150 per arm, and I need a bunch.

Just looked up a picture of one of those Vicon machines. From the looks of the thing, you would be better off to sell yours for scrap and get a CLAAS tedder. We have one and they run circles around those off brand tedders any of our neighbors have. They leave a much nicer windrow and the hay dries a lot faster.

And I want a toy rocket, and a pony, and world peace, Amen. Yeah, I would love to sell a lot of what I farm with for scrap and get something better, enclose a check with your suggestion  .

add up a bunch of 150 bucks' and see how close you come to buying that claas, fahr, or kuhn......

Sometimes there are things you can't really afford to get but can't really afford to pass up.....

I've got an old junker. I put lots of parts into it and its still a junker. I have a source or ar least about 4 yrs. ago I bought parts for it from them. Is this like yours? If so, email me and I'll send you the contact info for them I'd post it here, but the powers here don't allow other companies names on here........jim at tex-sys dot net

Well, before I pay $150 bucks a piece I can buy some iron and build them for a lot cheaper than buying a better machine, just looking to save some hassle. I have to drive 3,000 miles to find a good deal on a used tedder (I`m in Alaska).

You can check price with these guys, if you want to. It might be cheaper, I don't know, but don't cost anything to check.......

Yes, you could build them, but have you checked the price of iron lately? What about the cost of your labor to build them too? I would bet you would have $150.00 in each one. Back in the 90's when I had my ranch, I wanted a round bale unroller. Could have bought a new one for about $400.00. I knew I could build one a lot cheaper. I ended up building one instead, for about $675.00. Never got to use it and sold it to my neighbor for $475.00.

The iron to build them will run me about $15 per arm on the high side, and I`ll factor in a couple drill bits, will likely toast or break a couple. As for labor, that does not really factor in. I`m 26 and farming full time, I have very little in the checking account as compared to what I have to pay myself. If I have food on the table, it doesn`t really matter if I worked 6 hours or 12 to get it, it`s a good day.

Well, the tedder is back together, thought I`d better post the conclusion. Was able to find some of the tine arms I needed, but still over $100 each, so I went and had a talk with Greer Tank and Welding, and they ended up making me 36 of them, for $18.40 each, including the cost of the steel. Went to the local JD dealer, looked at what they had for tines, and am converting the thing over to JD tines, they end up being the same length, but a better design so I will change them over a few at a time. Then I found a guy that can build the shaft I need this winter, it should make it through the season until then. And then I built a jig to reshape the spindles, and liberally reinforced them. So now almost all the bugs have been fixed, and for much cheaper than a new one.

Glad to hear it. I wish my ole tedder would go. I've got hay on the ground right now that could use a good fluffing.
