Detroit, MI a day or two after they tore down the last house. Could be the Everglades, FL though.

Somewhere around the eastern Great Lakes, or the St. Lawrence Seaway, just west of the Laurentian Mountains. Looks like a limestone quarry, probably for cement manufacturing.

What'd I win???

Bye for now,

Is it in the Black Hills of South Dakota?... maybe a "before" photo of where the Crazy Horse memorial/monument is now taking shape? [Just a wild guess... figuring it has to be something noteworthy.]

devils tower from close encounters of the third kind.I know its not, but I thought I would throw it out there. Bill

That would be my guess. When we flew into Ellsworth AFB and had enough extra fuel we circled around Mount Rushmore to take pictures before landing.

Near Stone Mountain Georgia? I think I've been to the 1st picture but I can't remember where it was. The 2nd picture looks like Hardy, Arkansas.

That first picture looks like the floor of an old quarry on my cousin"s place, just about 1 hour"s drive north of Branson West. My Dad, His oldest Bro. and His Dad, bought a total of 557 acres from the Ash Grove Lime Co. in the early 40"s, for about $6000. My Sis and I still owen what Dad took and Cousin what her Dad took and Dad"s youngest Bro the ony one still alive has what Granddad took, except a few acres he sold to a couple to build on.

The first picture, which is a closeup of the second, shows fairly evenly spaced vertical markings which look to me to be residuals of blast holes drilled in limestone. Since the limestone "belt" is extensive, the sites could be almost anywhere. I will guess it's in southeast Wisconsin or northern Illinois, west of Chicago.
