Answer to Dino's question about the funeral

I saw the post heading the other evening but with the typo didn't realize it was for me.

In answer to the question, no, I didn't go to anything. Dad went down to see the part of his family (Uncles and cousins) that he still associated with, and they had dinner but that was about it. Based on what he was told there wasn't going to be a funeral since the body was being cremated. Beyond that Dad found out that Sr was on wife number 7, as best anyone could remember, and got to meet a half brother. The half brother he had known about for years, and in fact had met once before when they were both young but not again since. In other words no real suprises even after 42 years............

As for me, I did get so see a pic of him from a year ago when he was 90. All I can say is he looked OLD...... In the pic with him were Dad's Uncles and an Aunt that I don't think I've seen in close to 30 years either. Them I remember meeting when in my teens, but after so much time I could have sat down beside them and never knew who they were either.

Basically I stayed here, did what I needed to do, and life goes on. I think they all want to get together again sometime later in the summer so I may go down for that if I've got time, but again, no real sleep lost over any of it either way...........

Sounds like a good decision - be a peace with it. And as you mentioned, you can always go to a gathering later on down the road.

Wow! 7 marriages?!! No person in their right mind would marry 7 times! Apparently only him... and maybe Elizabeth Taylor.

7th marriage? Guess you found out what the trouble was, Your Grandma was the first he walked out on, after some practice he got good at it.
