Ive searched for the last 30min on google, for the formula to figure the capacity of a grain bed with no luck. I know ive seen it on here before so if any body knows it, or a site that has it please let me know. Thanks

Seems like a while back I was asking the same question regarding capacity of a grain box wagon.
There is a site sponsored by a midwestern state university that handles the question very well, just enter the dimmensions, and it'll figure the bushel capacity for you... Unfortunately, I have forgotten the name of the site. I'll be watching for some one else's response.

For a cylindrical bin: Volume in Cu Ft = [(3.14 x diameter squared) / 4] x height. Where diameter and height are in Ft.

To convert to bushels multiply Cu Ft by 0.806 as previously posted. Or for british bushels multiply by 0.7786....cheers.

There is 1.25 cubic feet in a bushel. So just figure the area in the bin and divide it by 1.25 and you will be close.

(quoted from post at 06:53:16 06/03/12) There is 1.25 cubic feet in a bushel. So just figure the area in the bin and divide it by 1.25 and you will be close.

I believe you made a typo:

Yes, there is approximately 1.25 Cu Ft in a bushel, however dividing the bin "area" by 1.25 will only give you the capacity of the bin in bushels per foot of height.

I believe you intended to say, divide by the bin "capacity", which takes into account the height of the bin.
