Well, the trash dump fire at the IA City dump seems to be slowly dying out, at least the smoke as seem in the University of IA campus cam seems to be less. Got a sense of deja vu a couple of evenings ago. I went to sit on my back porch and saw a big plume of smoke on the horizon, possibly 25 miles away. It died down as I sat there so it may have been a structure fire that the fire department got under control. The IA City firefighters are doing the right thing by letting it burn out. Landfills here collect methane gas and use it to generate electricity, chiefly for the BMW plant in Spartanburg, SC. They sieze on that as a way of saying that landfills that collect trash from 4 or 5 states isn't all that bad a thing. Ha! Baloney!
