farmall 560 ?'s

looking at a 560 gas to buy, this one does not have a ta. I know ih made some tractors without ta's, but, was the 560 offered without one or did it get pulled out? also it needs back tires bad, what size would ya put on? it's got 15.5x38 on now. I put new 15.5's on my 656 and wish I would have put 16.9's on. so what say you 15.5 or 16.9? thanks.

Hope you are getting it cheap. They are a gas hog! WIth bad tires, no TA and gas in my neck of the woods you would have trouble getting 3K out of one.

I've got a early 706 gas( same motor as 560) and lets say it likes fuel. I only use it to pull a six row planter. I have 18.4-34 tires on mine and it looks good. If it were mine i would go with the 16.9 -38. Buy it cheap because tires are not cheap.

i think th ta was an option on the 560s, though most i've seen, had one.
my 560 gas has 15.5s. my 560 diesel has 16.9s. the diesel looks tougher, but it sits enough higher that the fh doesn't get low enough at times when i'm plowing or hitching. if the choice for tires was based on new $$ vs workability, i would go with the 15.5s. back in the days when tires were more reasonable, i put a pair of 16.9s on a 656 and it set so much higher that i took them off and put on 15.5s.

They made them TA delete. I think it will have a P behind the S/N indicating live pto but no TA. (I may be wrong on the P however...memory)

I own a 1960 560 that never had a TA from the factory, most were ordered from the factory with TA.I have not seen many without TA they have nice steering and hydraulics other than that nothing to get wild about.Use them hard the fuel monster gets you.Scott
