New Innertube stem sticking out too far

I have a John Deere MI that I'm mounting a new (to me) set of 11.2x24 tires and new Firestone innertubes. I mounted everything and got it aired up...and noticed a problem. The valve stem sticks out so far from the rim that the valve stem nut doesn't touch the rim at all!

</a>

Here's a picture of the valvestem (I had to dismount again because I pinched the tube, my fault). When it's in the rim, the entire thing sticks through the hole in the rim. The rim itself is unmolested and appears to be unmodified. Are there any solutions to this, as it appears the tube is designed this way!

You need a plastic bushing washer that goes over the stem. Your ag tire dealer should have them.

Washers would work, but the correct thing is a plastic bushing, that clicks into the rim, from the inside, before you mount the tire. I think Gemplers, among others sells 'em.

Being an old tire man there is a number of ways to fix that. There is a plastic washer type thing that works well or you can put a washer on it or use a piece of inner tube and make a flap for it.
