piston ring grinder

My new piston ring grinder came today. I can get the gap set on the rings and put most of the engine together on the mH44 this weekend.

It looks pretty slick, basically a thin abrasive wheel, with a place to set the ring on and hold it. I will let you know how it works. I am hoping it does not take a lot of cranking.

Old, I do not know if we will make it to the lake this year. The kids start earlier and I am not much on crowds. It was great last year coming the third week of August.

If all the rest of this engine is this perfect you are going to have a great engine. As I said befor have built the old 260s for pullers for years and the ring gap that close never caused a problem. Most folks just take a fine file and hit the end of the ring if it does need shaving a little. What did you do to the head... The valve guides were always loose in most of the older heads. For the pullers we would find a LPG head and crank up the compression . Really made a stout engine.

The head has new guides and seats. I got 4" clones made from some M&W pistons. This was my childhood tractor, spent MANY an hour on it then with my Dad.
