New Holland 451 mower

The most important thing to keep in mind is, don't put too much pre-load on the bearings, not much more that finger tight. The book says tighten the jamb nuts to 35 ft. lbs. and back the nut off two flats. In my experience that is a little too loose. I just tighten the jamb nuts down until you can't turn the tin shields over the bearings with your fingers. Also, bite the bullet and get all new bearings and races.
