I was using the tractor and had a small thump and it jerked the stearing wheel out of my hand after that it would not move in any range or gear lost stearing clutch and brakes still have pto and aux hyds. any ideas

Agree, mcv valve/pump. Had a 966 that would not move or steer until I bleed/primed the pump every time I wanted to use it.

is there a way I could test this pump and is it located under the lower plate on left side of transmission??

There is a hex o-ring plug (a number 6 or 5) that you can stick a gauge into. It is on the left side of the transmission/ mcv pump below the clutch pedal. I dont remember what the pressure is supposed to be.

if pump or gear is bad to remove do you remove the same plate the plug is in and if so do you remove all the bolts that are in that plate or just the parimeter bolts
