O/T Lawn Mower Carb Leaking

I started mowing grass last night and ran out of gas. The mower started on the first pull. This morning I filled the tank and the carb appears to be leaking like a sieve. The mower won't start: flooded I assume. It's a B&S. Any thoughts? I can't see any hoses that are dripping.

Is it one of those carbs with a float bowl?? If it is then it could have some junk in the needle seat or some other such thing depending of course where it is leaking and all. Could also be the float bowl gasket it would have 2 of them.

Better pull the spark plug and then check the oil. Sounds like the float is stuck. All the gas might be in the crankcase.
We've got a 20yr old Tech. that we never could get the needle to seat and had to put a fuel shut of in the gas line.

You may find that some debris from the bottom of the fuel tank has been drawn through into the float valve and is holding it off it"s seating.
Careful dismantling and a clean out will probaby fix it for you.
I have found that a useful mod is to fit an inline filter and fuel tap.

We dumped the gas from the tank and let it set all day. In order not to lose any screws before I could get it to a shop, I put it back together. Just out of curiosity, I gave it a pull and it took right off. Wierd!!!

I have a B&S 12.5hp, the bowl is held with a screw pointing upwards against the "trunk" of the carb (float valve is around it) that srew does not have a seal, so it got to be tightened just right or it will leak as well from the bottom of the bowl.
