Just got my new knee installed yesterday. Any body haved a pro or con in the decision?

My doc had me wait until the new style was approved. He said it was the biggest change since they started replacing joint, it was called the itotal.

They had me do a ct scan so a new one could be custom made. I'v been walking on since the afternoon they put it in. I'm ready to home but doc says no go untill Friday.

I'm in dire need of a knee myself.. Working on equipment all these years hasn't been the best for my knees..I've had a round of the Suparts injections with pretty good results..Might get another round as soon as my new retirement insurance starts up in June..

I had one done late afternoon Nov. 8th and I was on it the next day and home the day after that. I had a faster than most recovery, which I attribute to plenty of steps and stairs. I suggested to the Doc that after approval by outpatient PT that a step stool about 8 inches high be a part of the therapy. just set it near your chair or sofa and every time you get up to go anywhere you step up onto and back down from it. He agreed and was going to see about implementing it.

Had mine replaced 4 yrs ago. No regrets. Walking without assistance from day 5. ( No they weren't aware of this , it's a no no) No more pain and I walk straight again. I can still run up a set of stairs and my bowling avg got back up to my normal 205 after a year of getting to trust that knee again. (it was my sliding knee) Just hope it outlasts me , they have no warrantees on longevity.

Don't push it too fast. I have two good friends that have had it done in the last year. The one felt so good he would not listen to the Doc and started doing everything. He now has trouble with his. It did not have the time to set correctly before he stressed it. The other friend listened to his Doc to the letter. Did all the physical therapy as told. His is working out great. So don't push it just because you are no longer in pain, take it easy for a while.

(quoted from post at 02:51:52 05/17/12) I got one a year ago just gots to do some good rehab and exercises its all up to you. I have 130deg movement.

I have 131 LOL

I got mine about a yr. and a half ago . The knee itself is good but they used a new style knee cap conecter for lack of a better word which is not what they though it was going to be . It has came lose from my knee cap . The pain is not as bad as it was but it dont bend well and cant put any weight on it as in kneeling and there is some pain . Dont want to go through it but guess I will need to have it redone .

I got my new knee at Mayo clinic in Rochester MN
When I asked about some of those new styles, that
i"d read abot they said: "At Mayo clinic We"re
NOT on the cutting edge of new technology..BUT
we"d rather be safe than be sorry, and have to
do it over!"

I have 135 on one (4 1/2)years ago and 132 on the other(1 year ago). Best thing I ever done. I can do more now than ever before. The second one I walked to first PT session in the hospital carrying the cane. I have not yet found anything that I can not do.

Don't wait too long. If you let the muscles get weak you have to rebuild them with therapy. I had mine done last Sept. and in three weeks I was driving tractors and feeding cows. Done therapy like I was told and made it bend. The only thing now is kneeling on it it is still sore on the incision. I am going to get my other one done this fall after haying is all done.
