How to determine front hyd. pump rotatation replacement

In another thread we are trying to figure out what front hydraulic pump to order. When I call surplus center and asked they said what rotation is my engine, I said from what view, they said from sitting on the seat, I said it turns CCW from the seat view, they said you need a CW pump...this pump will mount on the front of the tractor run off a drive shaft from the crank pully adapter.

Can someone confirm this? Are hyd. pumps like this rotation detemined from viewing the pump from the shaft side or opposite shaft side? I'm a bit confused and wanted to get a few same opinions...thanks.

Rotation of a pump is determined by facing the input shaft. If - when sitting in the seat of your tractor and looking towards the front - the engine is turning clockwise as you are seeing it - you need a clockwise pump.

I don't know what tractor you've got - but all mine have counter-clockwise engines and counter-clockwise front pumps. My John Deere, Oliver, Ford, Case, and Allis Chalmers are all that way.
Looking at the front of the engines - they turn clock-wise. Sitting in the seat and looking forward - they appear as counter-clockwise.

Here we go again. When standing in front of the tractor the engine turns clockwise. Hydraulic pump rotation is determined by having the shaft point up toward you if you are holding the pump in your hands. Now I think you are talking gear pumps, am I correct. Is the belley of the pump as it is known up ( above the drive shaft) or down below the drive shaft O. K. if it can be mounted either way, then is the suction port on the right side or left side of the tractor as you sit on the seat? If the suction port is on the right side, pump belley down you need a counterclockwise pump. If the belley is up and the suction port is on the right you need a clockwise rotation pump. Remember the oil goes around the outside of the gears as the pump runs. Post a U. S. mail address and I will send you some good information. Also remember all pumps are rated on theoretical pump output. If you do the math cubic inches per revolutions time revolutions divided by 231, they will not pump that much as no pump is 100% effecinet.

Shaft driven...it mounts on the front of the tractor and is driving by a drive shaft reverse threaded into an adapter mounted to the crank pully. The pump has two gears inside it that pump the hyd. fluid.
