Knocked out another big bunch of summer fallow yesterday.

Note to self: Every 6 1/2 hours, ya better be looking for the fuel barrel. Hate that part! :>(

Lookin' good, Allan.

Old neighbor from Nebraska said after the war, he was running a Case LA, I think- or whatever their biggest model was at the time. They'd take a 55 gallon barrel of gas to the field, and run 'til it was gone, then they were done, and went home. "We were kind of lazy, I guess- we were always home in time for supper."

There were a few major changes made from the 66 series to the 86 series.

Number 1 was the cab.

Number 2 was the fuel tanks.

They went from 45 gallons(or what ever it was) on board to 82 gallons.

The first year I went from a 966 to a 1086 was a killer. Went from a break every 6 hours to a break every 12 hours.

I still remember making a mad dash to the fuel barrel in the middle of the day. By the time the second tank was gone I was ready to call it a day.

That must be some nice dirt you have. Here pulling something that big you better have duals and lots and lots of power.

Put the wheels and tires off this tractor on my M because the new oversized tires I had bought for this tractor wouldn't clear the knees; the wheels came yellow like that.

They still go 'round and 'round tho. :>)

Yeah, here too.

I've got to move that disc over to the other tractor since I've got the new injection pump on and it's going again.

Just too damned lazy to put the other set of duals on (they would have to come right back off to bale hay here in a month or so anyway). :>)

I want a 1486 so darned bad I can taste it, but would 'probably' yank that rear tank so's I could see the drawbar to hook and unhook. :>)

Hey Allen! That ole '9' must really be a fuel hog?My ole 1256 has to work real hard for 10-11 hrs to burn up a tank(42 gal).Good lookin' outfit.Steve

I guess you weren't foolin when you said you run em right up to the nub ! Looks similar to the last time I ran anything of this size, was 2009, I remembered your comment, that and those duals being so close, never was too sure why they set em like that, most have a space between em.

And I thought I was in the big time when the neighbor added a buggy top, and a AM-FM radio on his 830. Just so I could spend the next three weeks cultivating corn and beans.

Yes Sir,

Got the disc set just as deep as it will go in the ground and she's really cuttin' nice this year.

Pullin' it in 4th at about 2200 rpm. Just can't stand to hear an engine run any faster that that. Gives me the 'willies'. :>)

Yeah, I can feel 'er slip a little when going across those combine ruts. I'm gonna get the other tractor on her, me thinks. Softer ride anyhoo. :>)

I always liked pulling a 480. It's a good load for my 826 but most of the time I have the wings up. I've been looking for a good 1086 but in these parts they are hard to find. The row crop boys put a lot of hours on them

Took me a long time to figure out how to keep 'er from ridgin' on the outside.

Those fronts throw a heck of a lot of dirt.

Uncle Mike had a culilmulture like that. We used to put it behind a 10 foot disk and pull it with a 706. Feathered the ground out nice.
