the weather looked a little ify, but it turned out to be a nice day. we had about 27 tractors and plowed about 31 acres of beautiful ground. the vids were only taken from a camera mounted on my 77 as i had too much fun plowing to stop and shoot . you can see those 6 short vids at chucksoliver77 on you tube. the 77 did 99.9% percent of the plowing in 5th gear. chuck

If you were running in fifth, you must have forgot to put the plow in the ground. The 77s &S77s were only good 2 plow tractors and then third or forth gear.88s were only 3 plow and still only 3rd or 4th gear. 5th is a 6.5mph gear.

We had a S-88 diesel back in the day. Pulled a 4-14 plow. Mostly in 3rd gear. Tractor had 57 hp w factory settings. Only implement we ever pulled in 5 was a rotary hoe.

"massey333, i do indeed plow in 5th, i also use the 77 for tractor pulling and it makes about 100hp and pulls the plow easily in 5th. check out the plowing on the videos and the 77 pulling in the 10,500 class. shes not your run of the mill 77. thanks for looking, chuck

Nice vids and answered a lot of questions.Nice sand for plowing.Your pulling shots are interesting, why is he still carrying the sled?A 77-88 in the 5-5500#class would have 200 to 300# on the nose in any pulls I know of and the BEST 77s top out at 5500-6000# and best 88s at 7500 to 8000#power wise. The way you are weighted.you would never get the sleds started and keep the front wheels even close to the ground.Even the GM99s will have 300 to 500# two ft.out front.Interesting.

massey333, first i don't know what or why the sled operator does what he does, i just pull the sled. second, i wonder what that wide front weighs compared to a narrow front and third i wonder how i won all these trophies and more. chuck

I won't argue with you,the pictures proved how your tractor can go to those wts..Any sled I have pulled on in the last 50+yrs.would have stopped you cold at 5500#.The Oliver boys with the big($15,000-$20,000 engines)stop the 77s at 5-5500# and 88s at 7-7500#for lack of power plus a few break in two. I'am glad you have done so good, but was curious on how you could pull those wts.and now I know.Good luck in the future but you should enter some NATPA or USAP pulls and try your luck.

massy 333 I have known chuck and his family for over 15 years.he has been around olivers his whole life.his brother dave runs a large farm in upstate ny with a full stable of olivers.chuck and his brothers in thier youths spent alot of time hot rodding cars and racing like most young men in the late 50s and early 60s.these boys know how to make power and pulling olivers is now their passion.I was at the plow day with my own oliver and everything chuck stated to you is true.I also pull my 88 against him and i have seen what his 77 can do.chuck has been mentor to my son since he started pulling and has heiped many oliver pullers.333 i respectfully disagree with some of your comments because chuck is the real deal,he and his brothers are excellent mechanics and fine people i am glad to be friends with them e bush

I never said anything about him or his tractors, what I was interested in was the fact of pulling that kind of wt.classes with no front weighting. The pictures showed the sled action and the chain lenght which answered most of it.Any pulls I'am familure with will have 88s-Ms-44s-JDAs-Gs with 100#or more up front in 4500#classes.We both know he can't run in wt.classes(which we do have) where 99GMs,and if allowed 4010s-806s power out in low gear which he implied he was doing.Nuff said and good luck to him.
