put boulders in the stream ,according to the trout fising club it helps put air in the water and creates pools for the trout, I brought them down to the stream with the skid steer loader

Looks good! I bet that helps.

Around here the Corps of engineers would go nuts. According to our laws 'one cannot restrict, alter or change the course of a stream without Corps of Engineers written approval'.

Larry is this club part of the University you work for(my perception from your former posts) or independent . just curious , if I had to go back to work I sure do like what you do. mine was an in plant maintenance job so it was more confining to say the least .

I've had a couple dealings with the conservation district here in PA. They're very reasonable to work with IF you talk to them first. But if you try to get away with something without consulting them and you're asking for trouble.

Don't believe everything you might have heard about New Jersey. When it comes to trout fishing, everything else takes a back seat.

I'd be real careful about working in waterways disrupting nature. It's a big deal anymore and requires legal process.

the corps does control waterways but up the stream from us, [ after fishing on the mississippi river in a 16 foot boat i refuse to call what flows by here a river] they did the same thing, turns out from old photos taken in the 1920's there actually were some natural water breaks in the stream, floods thru the years removed them, now the gov put them back, hmm.....

Eeesh - I hope they know what they're doing.

Boulders are one thing, but if you create too slow of a pool in front of that wall, it lets the water warm up much more than it would if it were just flowing through.

Warm water holds less oxygen, no matter how much bubbling it does.

Thats why we have so many fantastic trout rivers in Mass that hold no trout. All the old mills dammed them up. Plenty of churning water flowing over the tops of the dams oxygenating the water, but the pools warm it up so much that it does no good.
