Need to replace bearing on 85 F150 truck A/C clutch. do you have to pull the compressor if there is room to work . hate to open the system up. do you need a lot of specialised tools?/any words of wisdom would be helpful Thanks

NOT SURE, BUT I HAD AN EARLIER ONE THAT REQUIRED A TOOL TO REMOVE AND ANOTHER TOOL TO INSTALL, WAS NOT EXPENSIVE TO BUY AS I EMEMBER, SOME STORES THAT RENT TOOLS MAY HAVE IT, CHEERS, ED

I think I still have one of those clutch hub pullers. There will be a shim between the hub and shaft of the compressor, will look like a small washer. Make sure it goes back in to set the gap. If you're gentle, you will probably be able to work the clutch hub off with a pair of screw drivers. It will probably have a snap ring retaining the bearing/pulley. All of the ones I've done the pulley/bearing just slid off, didn't need a puller.
