1066 won;t stay running

1973 1066 IH sit for2 months try starting it it started right up ran for 3:00 min or so black smoke then it quit would not start let it set for hour or so it started with a lot of cranking when it started it sounded normal but then it quit right a way any it seams like it is getting fuel. any help would be fine.

Quit with black smoke- sounds like air restriction or to much fuel, the black smoke indicates she got to rich and flooded out.
 
After reading the other posts, I want to change my vote. lol

I think these guys are right with the air restriction, plugged air filter stuff.

One thing I know is it probably aint the spark plugs. BW
 
I go for air restriction in the air intake. Black smoke is unburned fuel. not getting proper air to fuel mixture. Mouse nest?
 
I had that once on a 4630. After spring work it sat until after wheat harvest when I started it up it smoked and hooked up to chisel plow no power and smoked real bad. Took precleaner off and that long pipe to air cleaner was plumb full of fine twigs etc when wrens tried to make a nest. Pretty ambitious critters as that pipe was full and the end of the air filter can. Cleaned it all out and it ran like new again.
