R.I.P. Goober

remember the ford convertible goober sold to aunt bee? goober had a 56 ford pickup too remember he thought he had a talking dog? what was goobers last name?

I think the first time he appeared it was Beasley then after that it was Pyle like cousin Gomer. Sorry to hear about George but I was more of a Gomer fan. One rainy day night too long ago I watched some episodes of GP : USMC on Youtube and enjoyed it. Frank Sutton and Jim Nabors played off each other quite well.

Wife and I watched that episode, along with her brother, where they put the bucket on Gomer's head and us two were laughing our heads off and he (former marine) says, hey, that's not funny.

Another good wholesome entertainer passing on. I enjoyed watching his character on the Andy Griffith show. I wish we had more of those type of show on today. My grand kids love to watch those old TV shows: Andy Griffith, Petticoat Junction, The Beverly Hill Billies, Green Acres, etc. It was great that you could turn the TV on and not worry what the kids might see.

Dang! Now I'll have to find someone else to tune up my old truck! But, like everyone else, I hate to see them go. That's why we call them "the good old days".

Definitely a sign of getting old. I knew an old geaser that was 90 and ready to give up on life. Said all his friends were gone and he was left all alone. Well, same thing is happening to us.

Along my road, in the last 10 years, nearly every other house has lost one of it's residents.

Goober is originally from Jasper, Alabama. The car he drove after high school was a 1949 or 1950 chevrolet convertible. Neat car. I only met George once when he attended a friend's funeral in Jasper.
Great guy. He'll surely be missed.
