John Deere Crankshaft removal

Guys I'm in the process of removing my crankshaft on a 1935 D and I can't seem to worm it out the left side. The manual doesnt say to remove the cam or cam gear but its starting to appear I might have to do this. Who out here has removed their early D crankshaft and did you have to remove the cam and cam gea?

I"m pretty sure I took mine out through the right (pulley) side. I took the counter weight off also. It was STILL a tough job.

I took one out of a 620 from the right side, I'm sure the I&T manual forgot to mention removing the cam or gear if they are saying going out the left side. Don't think the 620 crank would have went out the left side without the cam/gear out of the way. chris

Thanks guys. I just got it out after removing the cam gear, cam and governor idle gear. What rough job though....
