OT Ground Hogs minus one!!

This may or may not be a staged photo. I did have to finish it off three times though, they must be pretty hard headed.

Good looking woodchuck -Dead, that is.

Absentee neighbor had one getting into a pile of tires adjacent to his barn. Took a live trap and set it with 3 bite sized pieces of musk mellon on the ground under the trap. Came back in 4 hours, and there was chuck, in trap with a sheepish look on his face. Didn't even give him fair chase. Shot him right in the trap. One .22 right to the noggin.

Did I say I don't like woodchucks?

That's a proud bunch and the dog fits right to the crew..... Sure hope you or mom cooked that thing up for them. Be a shame to let it go to waste.....

i'd think with the 2 dogs you wouldn't have a problem with the chucks,..maybe you're feeding to good....LOL

Same thing I did a coupla weeks ago. Used cantaloup for bait in a live trap and got two in two days.

Took a little .22 automatic and popped them right in the trap.

Tried to get one, with the truck the other day, missed. I hate ground hogs, for the damage they inflict on my hay equipment. Ain't gonna veer into oncoming traffic, just to flatten a hog, though!

Staged or not, that's a good photo Nate. If you have a bunch of them critters around I could help you out, have a couple rifles that need to be shot.
