mini torches

Does anybody use those small oxygen acetylene torch setups ? What's the cost to rent the bottles or have the bottles compared to the bigger torches?
Thanks shaun

I have one that I keep on the service truck. It is real handy but the little tanks don't last very long. I own my own and have not had them filled in town for several years. I have the fittings to just refill them out of my big tanks. I can only get them to what ever level the big tank is but the gas is half the cost per cubic foot in the larger tanks.

Yeah, I have the small bottles. Got a good deal on them off of craigslist but ended up buying a new victor torch to put on them.

JD makes a good point, they're real handy for mobility, but if you're just going to use them in your shop, I'd get larger bottles.

I can't really remember how long of a burn I can get out of my oxygen bottle but it isn't long and I'm wishing I had at least a midsize bottle for oxygen.

I have a big set for the shop but always wanted to get a small set to pack around for small jobs away from the shop. I think they would be handier then pockets in your shorts.

I don't think you can rent them but they aren't that expensive. I swap the bottles at the supply house. Seems like they are about 10 bucks or so but I haven't swapped lately as I have several and only use them on small jobs.

Like JD SELLER I fill small tank from large oxygen. rember acyetlene is explosive above 15 psi unless tank has special material internaly. Therefor I have small propane tank ( one gallon) from an old camper. seems safer for me. I use propane in shop on large tank also. Have been filling propane from wet leg on house tank for years

Thanks for the replies guys I have a large torch at home and and a mapp gas torch for in the field which for what it is really works nice but I'd like to have something in case I need to cut a bearing or bolt

in buffalo ny I just priced the small bottles, just under $200 buying out right and that includes the first filling. Bill
