My front tire story

I went and got two new Akuret 9.5l-15 tri-rib fronts. two guys mounted them with new tubes. One guy was done quick, the second cursed and struggled with the tube??!! Went out a few hours later at home and that one was flat (hadn't even put them back on tractor). Took it back the next AM. The boss broke it down. The new tube was split open half way around the inside. No explanation, maybe cheap china. I found it odd that they squirted mineral spirits not only on the bead but very liberally inside the tire so the tube will "slide" around. I always was taught to use talcum powder. I don't think the second guy filled the tire and let it relax befire putting the core in. Just my tire story any thoughts?

Years ago was watching guy fixing snapring wheels. He"d air it then let air out, did several times. Ask and told let tube straiten out. Used to work real well till came out with these new stems that core has to be in to get air in. Been tryig to find air chuck that will put air in with core out for several years.

I had a new tube put in the inside rear of my JD 5020. A couple days later it was flat. called the tire shop. The tire banger came out. He had to remove the outside tire off of the rim while still on the tractor, to get at the inside tire. All I was thinking this is going to be a lot of money. When he removed the tube from the inside tire,it was split at a seam. So I got a new tube at no charge. Stan

I have a trailer, which I use on the farm, that I made out of a 1936 ford truck box when I was about 16. It still has the old 16 inch wire ford rims on it. Several years ago, I had new 3 rib tires put on it. I had pulled the old tires of and painted the rims. When I picked them up, both tires were flat. The young man did not know that you needed to put tubes in old wire wheels. I think I"m getting old. Ed

Front tire on my TW-20 went down, slow leak. Figured the tough corn stalks last fall. Took it to the tire fellas, he looked at it & said, well there's the problem - it's a tube tire, no tube in it. Where'd you have it done?

I said you guys, was a field call, about a year ago.

Huh, well we'll have to fix that.

Got a free tube and remount out of it, I offered to pay for the tube since that's real goods I would pay for either way, but he said nope, on us our screwup, he was surprised it help up for that long without a tube.

Well it's a coop, so I'll get a cent or 2 less equity..... :)

I had the opposite luck several years ago. New tires all the way around on my Farmall M. One rear went flat less than two months later. The tire guy came out, found a pinhole in the tube, no mark in the tire itself, put in a new tube at cost, and charged me full rate on the service call. The next year the valve stem rotted off the other rear, I bought a new tube somewhere else, and changed it myself. I now do business with a different tire shop.
