O/T: No good, worthless thieving people

Went to my mom's to put down some flooring, found out that a 4 piece DeWalt 18v kit, extra DeWalt drill, 5 batteries and 2 port charger are missing from my truck box. At least $600 worth of tools.

Used these last weekend, also at my mom's, so I know they were all in there. Only place I've been since then is at my day job. Seems like that narrows down the possibilities, and knowing that at least three guys there are potheads, one of whom is often pawning off stuff...

Worst part is, the guys that run the place know who the dopeheads are. I've talked to them a couple times about it, told them I've seen them smoking while working. One supervisor has watched them "smoking a bowl" on break...and did nothing but shake his head and let them go back to work. This told to me by the guy that was smoking it.

Supposedly it's that new K2 stuff, gets you as high as weed but somehow it's legal to use??? I don't get that. Management claims they have no recourse because it's "legal". I sure as heck don't want to be in the way when these idiots jump on the forklift.

I really need to find a new job.

Did not happen at my location but another location of the company I work for.

Someone left some of this legal weed where others could find it by mistake.
After human resources talked to our company lawyer they fired the guy.
Said he was causing a disturbance or moral issue.

They then sent out a letter telling everyone that this would not be tolerated.

One of the best parts of my job. We are under federally mandated drug testing rules.

You leave $600 worth of tools in an unlocked truck box and your surprised that they get stolen??? Tools are the easiest thing for someone to steal. I don't even leave tool in the back of my truck in the small towns around me here. Good friend had his spare tire stolen out of his truck bed just this spring.

People will steal anything! I had 160 tons on lime delivered to a farm i have rented. Got about half of it spread last weekend before I got rained out. Came back this fri and someone had climbed the gate and hauled off about 3 or 4 5gal buckets off! Seriously? It costs $11 a ton delivered! It pales it comparison to all your tools but it still floors me that some one would steal 30 or 40 pounds of lime.

I understand your point; just very frustrating, to say the least, to realize that you can trust almost no one.

This is a small company, only about 15 employees. We all know each other and are pretty friendly to one another. Didn't figure that even the bad ones in this group would steal from a friend.

Our parking lot is fenced and back off the road. Not easy to see who's vehicles are there unless you actually drive in, so I don't think it was a chance passerby.

Lesson learned the hard & expensive way.

Think of it this way.
The K2 is legal, so is beer, wine, Whiskey. But you cant drink on the job. In Short: The boss needs to put his foot down and make it known that anybody smoking anything other than cigarettes is fired.

Man that stinks. Like John, I work where we have a federally mandated FFD [fitness for duty] program. Advertised. Know around the industry. Yet we've screened-out wouldbe temps for just that thing. Theft is theft so have you contacted local law enforcement? It might send a message to have them drop by your work site and interview folks who might have 'seen something'.

Spray cans of paint is "legal" but huffing it will get you locked up. Your girley man "Boss" needs to either do the job or get out of the way.

Spent 20+ years in the Infantry way too much of it busting pukes who's parents couldn't handle raising it.

Told my kids & grandkids that if I see it you will explain yourself to the judge.

Hello Me Anthony,
Let me relate to you my experience with people that like to get high, legal or not.
I have been helping this guy for a few years now. He told me that he got fired from a construction job. HE wemt back after and stole a dozer from them!.
The stuff he was smoking really messed him up
Lately he cut up a log splitter with an 11H.P. honda engine I was using.Ticked of at the junk man for offering him too little? I posted A picrure of the thing, with an ugly wedge, BUT IT WORKED! The engine alone was worth at least $300.00, but he took a hammer to the engine, and then told me about it. I have kept my distance from him since then.
Life IS the best teacher.

OK, It may be legal but so is beer wiskey wine and a lot of perscription drugs it maks no differents you cant drive a motor vehicle with any of it or work with it in you sys. Call OSHA they really will do something. I know this for a fact and you dont have to tell them your name or tell them twice, your sup. is breaking the law too.Your stolen tools can be looked for at the pawn shop and they have to keep a record. Your local law enforcement is always looking for cause as they know where dopers sell stuff they can check it, if the pawn shop buys and sells they will give them a tune-up.Dont put up with it your safety and others is at stake also your livly hood. Dont ever put up with boozers or dopers on the job site.

It may also be someone who didn't work there that went through the vehicles in the parking lot. One place I worked at had a problem with vehicles being stolen from the parking lot during the day shift. We had them filmed on video twice.

union job? Where wife works the union has in its contract that there are to be no drug tests after the preliminary hire test. Although I dont believe they have ever been caught smoking on grounds, my wife has seen them dealing. But management has to find another reason to fire them. Usually happens in time...screwups are always screwups.

If your tools are marked start looking at the pawn shops(if you can prove your mark you ll get them back), if they are not marked start looking in the pawn shops to buy your tools back(they bring about 1/3 new price here) The cordless tools go cheap because they are expected to have bad batteries.

legal or not, if it impairs them in any way, and management knows about, and someone gets hurt working with them, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, they better deal with it now before it becomes too serious

Harbor freight tools are lookin pretty good about now huh?????? It really sucks having thieves around.... Thing about drugs, thieves, etc and management is that management is usually afraid of the perps..... Either physically or the lawsuits from the ACLU, NAACP, etc.......

Many states, including Tx, have outlawed the K2. Definitely would visit with law enforcement and file a formal complaint with OSHA.

Co-workers with impaired judgement operating heavy equipment = injury or death.

Locked truck boxes are a joke unless you have one made of heavy steel. The "standard" variety are cracker boxes and very easy to break in to. BTDT
