Big auction and it was one that I wish I had some real $$. There where tractors, cars, trucks, and motorcycles and lots of stuff like generators as in to power a house etc. 95% of the motorcycles had titles. H-Ds as in 2000 and newer going for less then $3000. Also the Honda/Yamaha V twin bikes going for about the same price. All of them ran well to boot. Generators went for less then $100 each. 2 finish mowers one belly mount and one 3 point went for $65 for the pair. Auction took form 11am till after 5 pm to get done with.

Old sounds good i don't know if it is prevalent in your area down here in the fort smith area they have a buyers premium these auctioneers think they are soothabees or something do they have a lot of buyer premium auctions in missouri? al

Farm/estate auction in this area have no premiums so what you bid it all you pay. I picked up a Snap-On compression gauge in a box with a bunch of other stuff for a great big $4 so even if it does not work I can get it fixed or replaces for nothing but my time to hunt the snap on guy down

It all ties back to the economy. People are not spending. When they do it is for a "must have" and they really shop.

I went to a farm auction in Mi. last weekend. I thought things were going pretty cheap too. I would say its a good sign of the times. Things are not picking up like they would like you to beleive. This auction was not one were the BTO guys would have been at. It was more for the little part time guy who counts on his job in town to support his farm. I agree on the buyers premium, I would have not gone had there been one.

"Buyer premiums" should be outlawed.
For one thing, it assures the auction company of making their money no matter what.
That is not fair to the seller at all.

You can go on line and look.Heavy equipment auction sell out of Whit,s equipment Friday.. Six percent buyers premium total sale was one Million seven hundred thousand.. No problem getting the money. Sure can,t see that the economy is hurting in this part of the country.
I can,t see all the fuss about buyers premium. If they announce it prior to the sale you know what you are paying. Just amounts to the buyer paying for the auction instead of the seller. 6 % of a almost 2 million day sale is pretty good pay but takes a lot to put on an auction. Te seller was not out anything. Those bidders that bid on line with proxi bid also paid another 3 % or so and then if you paid with credit card another 3 %. All just money. You have to know what it is going to cost before you bid. Bought some items that will bring 5 times what I spent and maybe some that will do good to break even but all and all a real good auction here close to home.

Problem with that is that in most areas of the country auctioneers have charged the seller a % of the sale to sell thier stuff. The more the auctioneer has to do to sell the items the bigger %. That was part of the draw to attend an auction. The auctioneer wasn't like a atore charging you to sell you an item. The seller was paying that. We, the buyers let the auctioneers get away with charging a buyers fee. Sorry, that will not wash with me. You sell an item by consignment and you pay the seller a % for them to sell the item. Same with an auction. Enough people stop going to "buyers premium" auctions the actioneers will change. To me that's just another way for the auctioneer to double dip or intice people to sell.

Knew the two guys or owners in this case the auction company charged them nothing so all the auctioneer got was the buyers fee to have the sale. Just shifting who pays and it has been aurgued to deat on here but think it will be the trend in the feature. Consingment auctions are just a whole diffrent world from an absolute auction.
