My uncle Mike passed away yesterday, April 25. He was captured by the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war until the end. His daughter found his Army papers, he was released from the POW camp on April 25,1945. Rest in Peace, Arnold (Mike) Koehler, Mt Pulaski, Ill.

Sorry,
do you know where he was kept as a POW?

its sad to lose them, even though the machines of war can be restored the men and women cant, these were the greatest generation that ever lived, i seriously doubt that given the same circumstances today the younger generations could pull togeather and work in unision at home and overseas like that one did, dad was an avenger pilot, he made it thru the war but would never talk of those days later on, i guess he saw plenty he would rather not remember [ passed in 2001] , the folks on the home front also made huge sacrifices for the servicemen as well as kept the war machine churning, try that one today they will definatly be missed

Sorry to hear the passing of your uncle. I had 3 uncles and 2 brother-in-laws that served in WW2. They all have passed on now. In 1950 when my brother and had completed the 11th grade we heard on the radio and in the paper of the Korean
War starting. My brother joined the Air Force after we graduated and I was drafted. Hal

Sorry for your loss. Death is graduation day if you know the Lord. Better for you, but sorrowful for the survivors. Daved
