Stereotypes.... truckers, cyclists, horse folks, etc

Had a busy day yesterday...
Walked in to work a little early, got a phone call and things spun thru my shift and half the next....

It's easy to lump folks in a crowd (and a bunch of you folks do it) and badmouth the entire breed when you have a bad experience with one of a group.....

Yesterday, a bunch of soldiers were convoying to the training area about 90 miles away. On the autobahn with warning lights, bigass white sign on the last vehicle and warning triangles. Moving up the autobahn. trucks over 7.5 ton can only drive 50mph. Military convoys can only drive 50mph.....

Was the start of an autobahn switch so the convoy may have been a little slower than 50 but moving good..... Truck driver comes from behind and hits them hard enough to make one hummer look like a slinky and damage two others. 6 casualties, one dead on scene in multiple pieces, one prolly gone by now, and broken neck, and 3 cut/beat up pretty good.

All had survived afghanistan more than one tour and ate it going to a rifle range... Truck driver walked away and was smiling for the camera..... No skid marks on the road and the truck was recently inspected... Real easy I guess for folks to say all truck drivers are =======.....

Sad day.........

(quoted from post at 07:44:42 04/26/12) On your side of the pond, can charges be filed? If not criminal, civil charges?

Still under investigation... Thier have been some pretty stiff charges filed in situations like this... Not always truck drivers, but they get a good amount of the spotlight.... Had one riding on my rear (3ft maybe)and flashing his lights when I was driving the speed limit. The police stopped us both and asked me if I wanted them to add harrassment to his charges. Said no and they let me go....
Guy in a ferrari a few years ago started with 3 murder charges (don't know what they were downgraded to or if they were) for storming up on a car and blowing the horn & flashing lights... Girl in the car got scared and whipped in to the lane to the right and was ran over by a truck. Her and her two kids died on the scene....

You don't get away with traffic violations for long here and there is no sympathy for bubba.....

Dave seen stuff like there before. Was real gald when a German driver hit the rear of our convoy (in route to Graf from Stugartt) on my first tour that it was the Germans fault and he missed the tail jeep and kissed the back of a M60A1 tank. Sad part was he was driving a VW van and a total of 9 died. Convoy speeds in those days was 25 with tracked vehicles and they figure that he was going over 60.

Bad deal for our soldiers, I feel for the families.

Pretty rough... Right at Bamberg. They had just switched autobahns and was lining out on the Nurnberg stretch (heading to graf from Schweinfurt). Don't know the details but they were moving along and the truck hit them hard enough to catch the last 3 vehicles..
I don't know how this link downloads as far as speed, but here's the headlines in our paper..... The brown blanket that looks like it's covering a wheel is covering a soldier.....

BTDT. Hated running convoys over there for the reasons mentioned. Used to run them from Saarbrucken to K-town back in the late 70's. Really feel for the families of the soliders. thanks for the link to Stars and Stripes
