Small world huh? I grew up in Apalachin which is about 20 miles West of Binghamton now, we were plowing in a Hamlet called Maine which is about 6-7 miles N of 17/86 in the Endicott area. The ground here is generally fairly rocky unless ya get down near the river where it's really good soil. The farmers her actually benefited from this last flood! Lots of new top soil deposited, and after a ton of testing no contamination: ecoli and such.
