What projects have you guys worked on lately?

I posted pictures earlier of my repair to the threads on the spindle for our 285. What have some of you guys been up to? I know Lyle has been busy with, well..... everything, but let's see it. What have you guys been wrenching on?

My project this weekend is gonna be replacing the steel on the front of our manure spreader. I'll take some pictures with my phone when I'm working on it.

My paw-in-law loaned me his 3-pt rototiller that he hasn't used in half a decade. I started cleaning it up today. Gonna paint it and put it to work. :)

I assisted (with guidance only) engineering students
making rear suspension spindles for an SAE race car
competition. Jim

Hope to finish the rebuild on my 8N in the morning, sleeves, pistons, crank turned, valves ground.....ect. Then going to check over the baler and haybine.

I wonder if a better question would be how many. I was just thinking and could probably list a dozen active projects with another dozen on the drawing board (to do at some point). I figure if'n I was ever unemployed my benifets would run out before I finished.

Too darn many . Starting to thin them out . Anyone want a Little Giant Track hoe ? travel gears stripped out , was going to convert to hydro drive but too much going on with basement and remodel .

Working on a hay debaler/rebaler for a customer. Between the building the frame work, mounting everything, the plumbing the hydraulics, wiring everything, etc, etc, etc it's one HUGE project for just me to be trying to do it all myself....especially when the customer waited so long to even start the project that they are in a bind and want it done YESTERDAY......

Just got in another load of parts today and still setting here at 1 AM working on getting together a new list based on what did and didn't show up in this latest round of parts. Well, just got done working on it and am fixing to eat supper since I didn't get in the door tonight until just before midnight....... I'll post some pics when I'm done.

Then there's the Bobcat I've got to put a drive belt on, a 901 Ford needing a carb, a 312 CAT needing more work after replacing the CPU, a MF to convert from a generator to an alternator, a trailer to put an axel in and reinforce (((((just remembered I forgot to call that guy back with measurements on the material yesterday.....)))))) In other words I've go so many bsalls in the air right now I'm doing good to breath without sucking one of them in and choking on it......... But hey, when all of the paydays come, things will be super......

The last 2 rainy days, I have been installing a 5spd ZF tranny, in my 91 F350 superduty. Still don't have the driveline on, or floor mat put back. I spent 3 hours trying to put the top, inside bolt in the starter, and still cant find the bolt hole, or get my hand in there. I'll never buy a Ford 7.3 again!

Waiting on pto clutch plates to come in, got the generic motor
starter for my rescue tablesaw project yesterday. Have to tear apart
the four wheeler carb today, the low speed jet is plugged. Starting
tire repairs on all the wagons, some new bald tires going on.

Septic tank/field lines..........

Neighbor brought me his roto tiller, already apart. Just love working on something I didn't tear down. I'm supposed to fix it, but the clutch parts I need are made out of "unobtainium". Anybody know where I can find a clutch lining for a Sears Roto Spader(it's a cone clutch, not flat disc)?
Besides that I'm putting a new different engine in my 1969 Massey Ferguson lawn tractor. I know it's silly, but I bought it new and it's still a good machine. Just have to change or build every mount for all the stuff like gas tank, battery, oil drain.
All coming to a halt next week, I think I'm gonna start planting beans.

Modified ladder ramps on implement trailer.

Making a ladder rack for my termite man's new van. In return, he is going to termite treat my 4 year old pole barn.

Watching over my wife of 44 years who is fighting lung cancer. Radiation shrunk the tumor in her lung but its spread and shes in severe pain. Hi powered pain pills arent working. Dont leave the house hardly at all.

The last few weeks been working on the sawmill, Im trying to make it a one man operation, its going a little slower then I thought but everyday Im moving forward. The biggest problem is that I dont have much of a budget to work with so Im doing lots of recycling if you know what I mean....LOL

Drug this sad sucker home a couple months ago. It had thrown a rod with 2700 hrs. Was hoping to salvage the engine, but the crank was "un-weldable" and a new one was around $2000.

Bought a used motor and have been nit picking at all the small issues since. I still need to take a look in the chain cases yet and put seal kits in the lift cylinders.

I am still working on a Farmall B that was in a shed fire. Replaced all seals, have most of it primed & ready to paint. Need to mount tires yet.

Isuzu 4JB1. Very unusual for one to go with that few hours. Maybe some sort of factory defect or really poor maintenance? I did wind up with 5 5 gal pails of greasy dirt out of that machine....

Not anything major, but got a new tube for the tire on my hay
Tedder, and put the tire back on, also got 5 cords of firewood
cut, split and stacked in the wood shed. It's been so dry over
here, it's the first time in a few years I dont have to work all
summer to get it done, but I can get a jump on the other
load.! Lol

Finally made it out to the pasture quarter yesterday. Somebody put up a nice tree stand out there. Nobody asked for hunting permission last fall, so I took it down. Mine now!

Should be loading out my rolled car today. Getting a gooseneck hitch put in my truck on Monday. Tuesday I get to pull the fuel tank out of the Tigercat 630C skidder, steam it out, and weld it up. Fun fun.

No shortage of things to keep me occupied!

Bought ourselves a new TV for Christmas. Just now getting the corner 'organized'! I am a carpenter, but this custom corner really got me upset! Painting it today, then load it and forget the hardships!

Got plenty to do around the homestead, but getting the old boat I bought last summer ready for fishing opener next Saturday is today's project. Grandsons (and their dads) want to go fishing, so I'm gettin' er ready. 1962 Scott 14' fiberglass boat, 1954 Johnson "Sea Horse" 5.5 hp motor. Shakedown cruise tomorrow. Will be wearing a life jacket. And will have oars along, "just in case."

Will try to find a few minutes to put some JuicyFruit in the molehills, weed the strawberries, etc. too, but "Work is just for folks who don't know how to fish."

don, i just finished a semi- restoration of my 641 ford tonight. it has less than 2000hrs, but needed some repairs and a lot of cosmetic work. chuck

Be getting the 28 X 46 Avery Thresher out of winter storage next week and be back working on it. Still got to finish the elevators and augers up and put them on. Then I want to cover the wheels with something rubber so I can tow it a little faster on the road...and it'll be easier to load on the trailer too, I think. My younger brothers will be helping me so I can just "supervise"....Yeah, Right!

Really Chuck??? Is that what a "semi-restoration" looks like? Wow! It's beautiful, that's an awesome job!
Thanks for posting,

Troy
