8n tractor front frame

I just brought a 8n tractor would like to put a loader on it but it has no holes in the frame for the pump frame to mount too. What can I do???

You need the loader made just for the Ford and it will mount. It will be hard to find but you need the one tha doesent make you climb over the rear to get on and off as many were made like that. Your choice isnot the best as the Ford with a loader ties up a tractor that has many uses unless you have another tractor for odd jobs. Ive spent more hrs than i care to remember on a Ford/Loader.

I think that would be special brackets that mount on the back axle housing where the rear fenders bolt on and up front where the axle hinge/pivot pin has to have another pin that has a wide plate welded to it to mount the front end of the loader. Then the pump sits on the front stationary part of the loader with a shaft that runs back through the crank hole and bolts to a special plate attached to the crankshaft pulley, it's special too. When these were sold off of a tractor, nobody went to all the trouble to remove that part cause it was a major undertaking. Some even left the back brackets on too. You can make the back brackets if you have metal working/shop skills...but, you should look at a tractor with them already on it and make you a sketch of front and rear brackets. ( with owner's permission of course) also, same with the front mount. It's a job that will take some time but it'll get you by. It will probably require some machine shop help because there are some larger holes that will need to be drilled in heavy plate steel and welding together. Hope you got the hydraulic hoses and control valve along with the loader. There is no reservoir on it, the pipe frame does that job. If you build all this, better buy a good hyd. filter system and install cause there might be a bunch of rust in the pipe after many years possibly being idle. Anyhow, good luck if you do it but they are hard to steer in the mud and I have scars to show that someone overloaded one several years ago (local coal yard) and they cobbled it up with weld to get the job done...and then bought it to me to do right. I personally would try the stuff for sale here on this board and try to find them the easy way, you'll be glad you did, IF you find them. They could possibly be available from some of the tractor parts dealers here on the board. They could use the support and it helps to keep this board going. ohfred

I had this same problem with a Ford 4100. I bought a loader (bush hog 4000) for a steal of a price, knew it wouldn't fit, but couldn't pass it up. What I ended up doing was welding C-channel between the horizontal braces that extend in front of the tractor, then welded the pump bracket to that at the appropriate distance. Works like a champ. I'll post some pics when I get home so you can get a better idea.

The loaders on the fords mount to the rear axles in the back and up front they bolt to either the front axle or to the axle mount area. Any loader you buy has to be made to fit what ever tractor you have they are not one size fits all things. By the way you will not like the way an 8N handles with a loader on it.

I have a 8N-B 1952 with a Freeman trip front Bucket that I have used Suceefully for 15 yrs. It will handle around 600#, does not upset the balance or stearing of the tractor. It utilizes the FORD internal Hyd pump. Hyd fluid is tapped at the Hyd test plug and is run to the twin cylinders with the vertical motion controlled by the three point hitch lever. Steel brackets were made to utilize the internal pump by Freeman (& FORD)which hold the hitch in a fixed position. I have seen this done many times. Bucket is triped by a leaver on the loader frame ( CABLE). Bucket is reset/ locked by lowering it to the ground. WORKS VERY AND CAN BE FOUND FOR ABOUT $300.00 Simple, reliable, and handy. If you need a photo email me & I will try to send a couple of Photo's
