internantional 88 series vs allis-chalmers 8000 series

What size HP? The 8070 AC had trouble keeping crankshafts in them. The 5088 IH had differential issues which may or may not have received the updates to. I was never a fan of the reverse air flow system for cooling the radiator on the 88 series. The AC Power Director is tried and true while the powershift was not as nice. Transmission parts can be an issue on the AC. Most 88 series IH transmission and final drive parts are unique which means not being able to take something off an 86, 66, 56, or 06 series tractor to fit.
The AC tractors are priced more reasonable versus most 88 series. I guess I would go with the 88 series here because I would have less trouble trading/ selling it when the time came to replace it.

I bought a AC 8010 MFWD new in 1987. The cab was great, big and roomy. The 12 sp. power-shift was not great. To many caps in the wroking range speeds. I kept it 4-5 years and put about 2500 hrs. on it. I never had any issues with it. It just was not quite big enought for my use so I sold it.

All-in-all the AC 8000 series would be much easier to find parts for. They where many more units out there. The IH 88 series was an orphan after IH sold. There where many parts not available twenty years ago let alone now.

If you are just collecting then the IH 88 would be more collectible. If you are going to use it then the AC 8000 would be easier to maintain.
