World Grits Festival

My grand parents lived in St. George when I was growing up.My great Aunt helped organize the whole Festival and was Granny Grits until her death a few years ago. They even named the big crossroad with the flashing light after her. They call it "The Nell Bennett Big Cross Road With The Flashing Light" :)
Seriously my family came from there and Parents moved back there about 12 years ago until Dad fell and broke his hip and now they live with me in Charleston.
I have never been to the festival as I have a fear of crowds of people. But I do like Grits.

FWIW, when I was in the Army back in the early 70's, the guys from Brooklyn called everybody from the South "grits". I reckon that's better than some other names I got called in the Army.
