Who here likes Case tractors?!?

My favorite tractor is the models I worked on since they came out new and up until the magnum series of CASEIH, I can pretty much stand along side of one and visualize all the parts and components that make it work. I did work on Case some but never got intimate with enough of them feel comfortable around them. Same with the John Deere. What kind of irritates me some what is guys who absolutely love their tractor, and don't know if it has direct inj diesel engine, planetey or bull gear final drive or many other features that distinguish one tractor make and model from another brand. In other words, they just like the color they have. Some have had bad experiences with a particular tractor and that is their right and privledge to not like it.

@Pete23 my grandpaw has a case 8940! Strong tractor thatwe plant with. Pull a 12 row with 1200 case planter and have a 6 row that we pull with our 970.

I spent most of my childhood around a 970 hydrostatic and an 1175. The only 2 tractors my dad bought brand new in his life. They were our two big tractors in the 70's and 80's. I have many many memorable hours behind the wheels of both. I think my favorite was the 970. Dad kept both Case's till he retired. After I left dad got a couple of JD's, 4020 and a 4620. He always liked the JD's. My parents retired and sold out in the early 00's. Life is good for them now. Even though I have been away from home for 25+ years I still drool whenever I see a case from the 70's. SHON

When I was a teenager, we had an RC, then a VAC. Later on, I had another VAC.

My wife bought the second VAC on a farm auction for $65, and it was decent looking and healthy. But-that was in the late 1960's.

However, it seemed like there was a time when my wife had better luck buying farm machinery on an auction than I did. Don't know if men didn't feel comfortable bidding against a woman on machinery or what. Maybe they thought she didn't know what she was doing and was going to bid till she bought it, or something.

(She grew up on a farm and dang well DID know what she was doing).

I've owned two. One was my favorite a 970..should not have sold it, but it was my spare. and I own a 1070 that was a basket case, but the price was right. the injection pump on it was toast so I got it for a few hundred. took me a few months to find a pump. but it has come in handy when I need it.

Love them. Currently own 2 DC"s a 52 and a 53 foot clutch. Grew up on both of them, a Vac-14, and a VAC. All good tractors

As I grow older I've come to appreciate all of 'em, (well, except green), but CASE is at the TOP!

Started out with a well used DC bought for $125.00 still have DC loader tractor daily use Puller is CC won lots of trophies and blue ribbons

I waised on Case and Oliver. Dad last had a 970. Before that it was an 830,400 and back to sc's and dc's. I had a 400 and 1370 .I still farm with my 1570, 1070, 2- 830's and some older ones. I would like to get a 94 series or a Magnum to replace the 15. Also have many older ones including L's, CC's, rc's sc's, dc's. They have treated us good. Big ,slow running , dependable, durable, torquey ,fuel efficient engines. Dad always said and I quote, "Case never built a bad engine"!

Ive never owned a CASE,but I think i'd really like a 1030.BTW,I once ran a (orange)1070 for 2-3 days-the biggest POS I've ever had the 'pleasure' to operate.

I have sold, run, and repaired them all my life. Case engins had power and torque that no other mfg., other than Moline could compete with. I can't say much for the Modern Day CNH company though. They could care less about providing parts for CASE tractors, and older IH's.
They are all about market share and could care less if their dealers are profitable. If market share is low in an area, they just sign up another dealer to dump their equipment into the market.

Until this time a year ago I had nothing but "Green" 10 two cylinder Deeres and then I bought a VAC Case. I really like the little devil. Of course I like Green too.

I have three , 730 930 and 1030. They see regular work on our dairy farm. Good old tractors, easy to run, good on fuel, nothing fancy, just raw power.

Sorry ACG, I hate them things u sold to Jim, I hate the shifting on the 400, climbing up the back of it, no power steering ect, only good thing about that pos is it does start right up in cold weather?? Than he's had alot of problems with his 730 fluid drive, or hydro whatever the tranny in it is, he only uses it on the wood splitter now? Heck my farmall H is more comfy that those things.! There akward it seems to me.

I've owned 300, 730CK, 830EH and 1030CK. Dad had 2 730's and grandpap had a 300, DC and SC. I wish I still had the 1030, I had a 4020 JD that was a POS. A guy came up and wanted to trade the 1030 for it. One of the best trades I ever made. :D :D

Well if You cant shift the 400 ,, You had better stay away from OLIver Too ,, These Tractors are meanrt for the serious minded ,, Not the simple minded H lovers

I have a bunch of VAC's, a big 400 diesel, C, 1030, LA, and a crossmotor. Love them all. We got 3 red ones. The SMTA has a factory wide front and needs 50 acres to turn around on, the F12 is a pita to start. I also have a high wheel 195 and 446 garden tractors. Guess it's just a CASE of good judgment. As we say, if it aint flambeau red leave it in the shed!

We farmed with 2 830 CK,s. Great "fill er up and go" tractors. Would pull 4-16,s on our farms. No fluid drives just 4-hi/lo gears. Neighbor had brand new 1030 CK. What a brute! Pulled 6-16,s like it was a spike drag. We didn't "need" cabs back then. Were just glad to have what we had. I like at least one of every tractor make. MM G 1000 Vista , Ollie 1955 T , JD 6030 , IH 1206 T , Case 1030 CK , MF Super 90 , Allis D-21 , Ford 6000 .

No, I'm more of a ford lover, I like to work smarter not harder, and u have to work harder on that case junk.

(quoted from post at 20:09:41 04/13/12) No, I'm more of a ford lover, I like to work smarter not harder, and u have to work harder on that case junk.
if CASE is such junk then why are they still in business? Found On Ranch Dead went the way of the dodo bird with their english build metric crap.

Own two VAC's. one with adj wf that i've been redtoring for 10 years. Need an arm for the wfe thats no longer available. I'm a red guy but I've always been fond of the 30 series diesels. My neighbor had a 1030 he bought new and ran til this year. You could always tell the sound of that running. I worked for a guy had a 430D that was nice but needed ps badly. He had a 830 comfort king diesel with the swept back front axle that was neither comfort or king. He had a 630 gas that nice to run but hard on gas. Heck i like most brands.

Doesn"t NH own Case?? So technically Case is gone too. NH bought Ford, but had Fiat in there for a while. arrrgh. I"m confused. CNH now. Hmm, maybe its a CaNewFiaFord.

Yes I like the old Cases. Don"t own one. Well actually I do if you count a Case 580SE.

Rick

Learned to drive on a VAC. Grandpa would put in low gear and send me down the lane and back. Back n the "good old days". Wish I had that VAC. Have a 1030, awesome power.

When on the farm, we had a 300 round nose, 6cyl 500 and, a 930 all bought used. Great tractors. Wish I had them now. The only new Case we bought was a 430. Biggest pile of junk that was ever on the farm. Maybe we should have bought a used one.

I as well enjoy the Case tractors. But I like there Steam Engine Line the best. I've got the only known 1914 Case 40 HP Convertible Road Rollar/Traction Engine in my collection.

From Denton, Nebraska.
