Hydraulic Opinion

On our Deutz 4006, which is a "71 model, the hydraulics have been progressively getting weaker. Last summer, after about an hour of use it wouldn"t pick up the three-point mounted sprayer unless allowed to cool. I"m thinking it"s hydraulic pump rebuild time. Before I get into that, is there any other possibilities I should look into first?

Is there a way to adjust the pressure on the relief valve or any valving? Can you put a pressure gauge anywhere on the system to see what operating pressure is?

Check filters, suction hoses first. Hoses can separate, collapse on the inside. Filters can clog up tight enough to starve the pump.

I don't know your tractor but Wile E's advice is good - put a gage on it and see what it's reading.
Just as you can't see ohms or volts without a meter, you can't see pressure without a gage.

You may have an internal leak in the hyd valve.....valve body is cracked, letting oil flow constantly, instead of flowing just when needed. That will create extra heat in the system. KISS formula- check out the valve before spending $ on a pump that may not solve the problem. Too many people posting here throw parts on a machine without proper diagnosis.

Thanks for the replies. It"s always nice to put a fresh set of eyes on a situation! Hope to get to it this weekend.
