IH 300? Opinions

I mostly use my Farmall M with a 3 point for spring plowing and planting. Neighbors have a 300 with 3 point they want to sell. Mismatched good rears,back weights and a good torque. Tractor runs fine and has had a recent engine job, back 5 years ago. It was parked after the engine work. Do you think $1600 is out of line for it and would it have much more power than an H?

I don't know what it's worth in your part of the world but if it were here it would bring twice that price.

$1600 is a great price-jump on it!A 300 would be a fine 2nd tractor,more power than the H,with all the 'improvements'.You will soon want a 400!

You'll play hail finding tires for that price. And they're as nice a little tractor as you'll find for a second tractor. Jump on it...

Good price if it has decent rubber! Will have significantly more power than an H.

I've never run one, but it was my Grandpa's big tractor for a few years. He generally liked his Farmalls, but his description of the 300 was "a Super H with a bigger appetite". That said, going by your description, I'd say its a reasonably good deal, if it's what you want in a tractor.
