Skidsteer tires

Im working on buying a little Case 1818 skidsteer but 3 of the tires are shot. Its got one new one and i was just doing some research and found out that the 27x8.50x15 is around $300. Well this thing wont really be out of the barn just because i have 2 other loader tractors around the farm.

So the question is, anyone ever stuck truck tires on a small skidsteer? how'd it work?

Steve don,t know where you are located but I bought one of those about a year ago. I sold the unit to a scrpper but it had NEW foam filled tires. removed them and on the way home lost one. Long story short I have three new tires foam filled on rims. They wold be a bargain. See if you can e-mail me direct..jm.

Miller tire has them for considerably less. Might also check ebay. They have some pretty good deals on imported tires.

I just bought a set of 12 - 16.5 for my latest project. I ended up buying Carlisle. Reasonably priced and made in USA.

As long as it is the same overall diameter the machine isn't going to know (mixed tires). If not you will be stressing the drive line somewhere. If you go that route get 4 matching tires.

As for truck tires, side wall is going to be the issue. Look back in the mirror some time and look whats going on with a loaded tandem trailer when making a sharp turn. One will be bowed in the other out.

The loader itself probably will not weigh enough to be a problem. With a full bucket of manure, it might.....

I have seen a lot of guys running truck tires on the small skid steers with absolutely no problem. Make sure all four match.

Will they last as long as a true skidsteer tire, no, but using it around the barn like you say it should be fine.
