Kubota l-175

I have a guy wanting to trade me a Kubota L-175 for a pickup I have, just wondering if anyone knows anything about them. I see they were made from 73-76 with a 2 cyl diesel motor but thats about it. What is something like this worth?? Thanks for the help.

I had a neighbor in the early 80's that had one, it was the first kubota I ever remember seeing in our area. The tractor was little but it must have been tough and cheap on fuel because the old man used it for everything, garden, skidding firewood, mowing, cow hunting, and drove it almost everywhere he went. There was a beer joint/store probably 2 miles down the road and I would see his tractor there every evening.

I think it was Kubota on which the PTO turned the wrong direction on some of the early ones. Might want to check that out- would make it tough for resale, I suppose the implements are haard to find now.

we have one that we use weekly on a 5"gromming mower that is a 1 owner tractor. Use it to cut about 8 hours/week of grass. My dad is 84 and still drives it. has been a very good little tractor. Has more heart than @ss.

I have an L245, that is a 3 cyl, bought it in 77 it succeeded the L175(2 cyl)/L225 (3 cyl) tractors. I used it to cut grass on 2 acre. I have attached a backhoe and front loader to it. It is a great compact tractor but it is light in weight, it will spin rather than pull a heavy load. The L175 is 17 HP IIRC. They were available with turf or farm tires.

Well you got all the other answers now What IS IT WORTH. Who knows .. been a Kubota Dealer for 28 years , Still see a few L 175s. I would ventur to say one with good tires and clean sheet metal will still bring $ 3500.00 and maybe $ 4500.00 on a good day. That would be at a dealership, auction could be anywhere $ 2800.00 to $ 3500.00 Just my opinion and the the pto turns the standard way. Most common failure clutch and glow plugs.

Is what I said below about wrong-way PTO just an old wives tale? Or did some of them come that way?

I have been known to mis-remember stuff from time to time. . .

It's a tough little tractor but has an odd-firing 2 cylinder engine which causes a lot of vibration. One locally traded for around $3,000 a couple years back.

Found out it has 1400 hours on it, plus its only 40 miles from home. Looked on ebay and looks like there are tons of parts avalible and we have a kubota dealer 10 miles away, have to see pics first and run it but you guys are starting to get me interested in this one. Will be handy to run my elevator, rake hay and to put a small 3 point trail mower and sprayer on. Thanks for all the help, I will let you guys know how I turn out!

One of 'em ran over me once. I survived, cause it was at an Idle, I was backed against a building, and I pushed back as hard as I could, as it was climbing my leg! I grabbed the shutoff lever, and snuffed it out, then rolled it off me. Rolled it back over, none the worse, for wear. As I recall, the only problem we ever had with it, was an O-ring in the oil suction line, got hard, and started sucking air. Would light the oil light, when it got hot enough. Far as I know, that Butt ugly little 13 HP monster is still runnin!

The uses you just mentioned are what this thing works best for.. Just thought of one other problem that we had when we wer selling them..That tractor does not have a water pump it use the heat of the engine to make the water circulate thru the radiator. If you get it first check the radiator for dirt and weed seed then make sure the small whistle is working. That is what it has rather than a heat guage.
Never really a problem as such except people would let the radiator stop up., then the tractor ran hot.
