Removing Grease

I've been restoring old John Deere 494A & 694A planters for deer hunters for almost 7 years now. Getting the grease out of those gears have been something else. I use to soak them in degreaser and carb cleaner. That worked but took a while.
I found out recently if I just use the cutting torch and heat the old grease up it pops right off minutes later and once it cools a bit it's ready for sandblasting. Saves so much time. A person can use this method on other greasy parts too!
