ARPS BLACKHAWK

Anyone know anything on the history of the Arps Blackhawk? My father-in-law aquired this old tractor several years ago thinking we would use the Ford Model B engine in one of our restoration projects. We decided to keep the thing together and have fun playing with it. I would appreciate anyones feedback.

I believe it was made by Cockshutt, and just labeled that for the midwestern US market. Ask about it on the Oliver/Cockshutt form, I know someone on there owns a couple of them... won't need a different engine unless blown to pieces, should be rebuildabe...

No issue with the engine. This badboy starts and runs great. I found out a few years ago that Arps who made highway mowing equipment and golf course maintenance equipment along with aftermarket track conversions was sold to Ameriquip in the 1970's. I spoke to a guy at Ameriquip who confirmed that information but didn't have any other real info. This thing has a Ford Model B engine, a Ford transmission and a 2-speeed Ford truck rear-end. I'll check that forum you suggested, thanks for the reply.

I think the Blackhawk company that Cockshutt bought in 1956 was a completely different outfit. The other link on this thread refers to the Arps Corp. from New Holstein, Wisconsin, and it looks like Blackhawk was just the model name of their tractor conversion kit.
